April means Easter, and Easter means chocolate - and our Smarties Easter Circles dressage!
Utilising the humble circle, these tests are a wonderful early-season challenge.
We were delighted to have the Smarties Easter Circles Dressage supported by Boys Ride Too Magazine this month – along with a special rosette for the Highest Placed Boy Rider in each class, they also kindly donated a copy of the magazine and a branded neck strap for the lucky recipients!
It was brilliant to see boy riders represented across all our levels, with the highest number of boys per class occurring in our Yellow tests. Most of our Highest Placed Boy Riders placed 2nd and 3rd, proving that boys can indeed ‘do dressage’!
For 2022 we introduced our *new* Harmony Awards: the ethos of Demi Dressage has always been to encourage kind and correct riding. Many riders will be rewarded for this simply in their placings: a harmonious test is more likely to score higher. However, there are times where we see a particularly pleasing test that might not necessarily be the highest scoring, but pony and rider are working well in partnership together, and that is what our new Harmony Awards are about.
This month we awarded a Harmony Award to Finlay and Fifi for a very sensitively ridden Yellow-Plus test.
Results are published on the Demi Dressage Facebook page as they come in, but are posted here in class order for easy reference :)

MiniD was desperate to have her first attempt at a Red test this month - she really wanted to try the circles, as she is so excited to be able to canter a circle on Tangle now Alas, 'life' has got in the way of us filming this month - but we may attempt a late one (she only enters HC anyway, of course!) I'll be sure to share her first Red attempt if we do manage to get one in the bag <3
A big well done to everyone who competed this month!
Our next tests are the “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” May dressage :D The tests can be downloaded from the Current Event page, and the closing date is Sunday 29th May 2022. There is a special rosette for the highest placed Pony Club Member in each class, so don’t forget to let us know with your entry if you are a member – and give us a shout out to your branch too if you want!
